Affiliate and editorial disclosure

Last updated: 6 August 2026

The short version. Some links in our guides are Amazon affiliate links. If you buy through one we may earn a small commission, and you pay exactly the same price. We also make and sell our own products on Amazon UK, and where a guide features one of ours we say so on the spot. No brand pays us for placement.

How we make money

Two Feet Four Paws earns from two sources, and only two:

  1. Amazon affiliate commission. Amazon pays us a small percentage when somebody buys after following one of our links.
  2. Our own products. We design and sell a small range of dog products on Amazon UK, and earn a margin on those sales.

We do not take payment from brands for coverage, for a position in a guide, or for a favourable write-up. We do not run display advertising. We do not sell sponsored posts. We do not sell your data.

Amazon Associates

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Two Feet Four Paws takes part in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme that lets sites earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.co.uk.

Amazon pays the commission, not the manufacturer, and it comes out of Amazon’s margin. It never changes the price you pay and it is never added to your basket.

Commission rates vary by product category and are set by Amazon, not by us. We do not know in advance what any individual sale will pay, and we do not choose products by commission rate.

When you click an Amazon link you leave our website. What happens after that is governed by Amazon’s own terms and privacy notice. We receive anonymous, aggregated reporting only. We never see your name, your Amazon account, or what you bought.

Every guide carries a label reading “Affiliate links” beside the “These are our top picks” heading, at the top of the page and before any product is mentioned. It links to this page. Every product link in a “These are our top picks” block is an affiliate link and carries rel="sponsored nofollow" in the page code. That means all three links for each product: the image, the product name, and the “View on Amazon” line.

  • Links in the body of an article that are purely for reference, such as a link to a manufacturer’s instructions or to a standards body, are not affiliate links and are not marked as sponsored.

If a link is not marked, we make nothing from it.

When the product is ours

We sell our own dog products, and we also write buying guides about that category of product. That is a conflict of interest, and we would rather name it than hide it.

Here is how we handle it:

  • Any mention of a Two Feet Four Paws product inside a guide is clearly identified as our own product, in the text, at the point of mention. Not in a footnote.
  • We do not describe our own product as an independent recommendation, a test winner, or the result of a comparison we ran ourselves.
  • We do not rank our own product against competitors in the same guide and then declare ourselves the winner.
  • We do not write a guide whose scoring criteria have been reverse-engineered to favour our product.
  • Where our product is not the right answer for a reader, we say so and point elsewhere.

Read anything we say about our own products as what it is: a manufacturer describing its own product. Judge it on the specifics, and check it against independent sources.

How we choose what goes in a guide

Readers are entitled to know what a recommendation is actually based on, so here is our method in plain terms.

What we do

  • Start from the problem, not the product. We define what the reader is trying to solve, then work out what a product has to do to solve it.
  • Build a shortlist from products genuinely available to buy in the UK at the time of writing.
  • Compare published specifications, materials, dimensions, weight, certifications and manufacturer guidance.
  • Read a wide spread of customer reviews, including the negative ones, and look for repeated failure patterns rather than one-off complaints.
  • Draw on direct hands-on experience with products in the category where we have it.
  • State clearly what a product is not good for, and which dogs it does not suit.
  • Date our guides and revisit them, because products get discontinued and revised.

What we do not do

  • We do not run a laboratory and do not claim to. We do not publish test results we have not produced, and we do not describe desk research as testing.
  • We do not accept payment, free product, gifts or hospitality in exchange for coverage or for a particular verdict.
  • We do not let a brand see a guide before publication, and no brand has approval over what we write.
  • We do not recommend a product we would not put in front of our own dog.
  • We do not pad a guide with weak options to make a preferred product look better.

Where we have tested something ourselves, we say what we did, how long for, and with what dog. Where we have not, we say that too. If a guide does not describe hands-on testing, assume there was none.

Reviews and ratings

We do not publish, commission, incentivise, solicit or host fake reviews, anywhere, for our own products or anyone else’s. We do not offer discounts, refunds, free product or any other benefit in exchange for a review, and we do not ask customers to remove or amend a negative one. This applies equally to our Amazon listings and to our social media channels. Those practices are banned under Schedule 20 of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, and we would not use them in any event.

Where we quote or summarise customer reviews from a third-party site we say where they came from, and we do not present a selective extract as though it were the overall picture.

Prices, stock and specifications

Prices and availability on Amazon change constantly and are outside our control. Any price mentioned in a guide was correct when we last checked it and may be wrong by the time you read it. Always confirm the current price, specification and seller before you buy. We are not responsible for third-party pricing or stock.

Editorial independence

Commercial arrangements do not decide what we cover or what we conclude. The person who writes a guide is the person who decides what goes in it. If that ever changes, this page will say so before the guide is published.

If we get something wrong we correct it and note the correction. Tell us at hello@2feetfourpaws.com and we will look at it.

Our social media channels

Posts on our own social media accounts that feature our own products are advertising, and we mark them as such in line with the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising, the CAP Code. Where a post contains an affiliate link it carries an affiliate disclosure. Where we work with a creator or a partner, the post is labelled as an advertisement or as a paid partnership by that creator.
